T2 single tube core barrels are suitable mostly for homogeneous compact formations drilling

T2 single tube core barrels are suitable mostly for homogeneous compact formations (e.g. hard clay) or for softer formations when high core recovery is not essential.

Flushing water comes directly in contact with the core sample washing it away and causing erosion -in soft and fissured/broken formations

T2 double tube core barrel is easily converted to single by using a position ring and a T.C. head –coupling (Fig. 1). The rest of the parts are the same for both types i.e. outer tube, reaming shell, core bit, core lifter & core lifter case.

It is a very simple type and consists of
